Policy of Zeeland Seaports
Zeeland Seaports has laid down its policy vision for the coming years in its Strategic Master Plan 2008 - 2020. This plan sets out the objectives of the Port Authority in Zeeland, but also describes the way in which it aims to achieve these objectives.
The principal objectives:
- to achieve an increase in port-related jobs and added value of 20% until 2020.
- to achieve growth in throughput in the Zeeland ports to 50 million tonnes from seagoing ships and 40 million tonnes from inland shipping
Zeeland Seaports intends to meet these objectives by:
- developing large-scale container activities
- attracting and encouraging sustainable industry, using sustainable forms of logistical transport and sustainable use of space

Starting points for nature management
The management area of Zeeland Seaports is an ideal habitat for a diversity of flora and fauna.
The economic interests of the port area are priority number 1 for Zeeland Seaports. But the port authority also endeavours to take account as much as possible of the plants and animals in the area. See also nature management.
